Degree show @ NGC 2011
My practice explores issues of nostalgia and childhood. Memory is something that cannot be taken for granted as it is ephemeral and can be lost through tragedy or just the simple passage of time.  My inspiration comes from old photographs. However I do not only use my own, preferring photographs sourced from other places or people which evoke nostalgia.
These photographs form the basis of my development work. I source them from family, friends and even strangers. They are used in collages, transfers and prints and then through a distillation process evolve into final pieces.
I produce copper etchings and Intaglio prints to suggest the concept of memories being embedded or etched in our mind. Memories form who we are and shape our personalities and I feel it is vital we try not to forget them. By creating these pieces I create a physical memory which relates to me the artist directly but I hope makes a nostalgic, emotive and universal connection with the viewer.
